Discover the effects of frame-based lateral tilt during ISICEM 2021

Based on 8 years of research

  • Respiratory failure is always challenging and requires a systemic individualized approach to each patient supported by appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.
  • 8 years of comprehensive foundational research on the effects of regional changes of lung mechanics in different body positions, resulted in innovation in mechanical lung ventilation – use of Automatic Lateral Therapy (ALT) guided by Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) for Continuous and Individualized Ventilatory Care.
  • Visit our team at ISICEM to find the latest findings about continuous individualization of ventilatory care based on targeted patient´s repositioning guided by real-time and personalized radiation-free monitoring. Together with state-of-the-art medical technologies, the world premiere of the brand-new ICU bed MULTICARE X in combination with latest EIT monitoring system from Timpel.

Experience world premiere of

Speakers & LINET Team

Marcelo Amato, Prof., M.D., Ph.D., initiated his medical studies in 1980 at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo, with a specialization in Pneumology and Intensive Care Medicine at the Pulmonary Division of the Hospital das Clínicas. In 1996, he successfully finished his doctoral post-graduation. In 1996 and 1997, Dr. Amato finished Postdoctoral training in Minneapolis, working at the Lab. of Prof. John Marini and in Rotterdam, with Prof. Lachmann. In 2008, he obtained his professorship at the University of São Paulo, Pulmonary Department. His main areas of research are Protective Mechanical Ventilation, Electrical Impedance Tomography, Technological Solutions for Mechanical Ventilation.

Mikulas Mlcek, M.D., Ph.D. is a Deputy Director of the Experimental Physiology Lab and the Head of the Medical Simulation Center for the First Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Prague. He graduated from Charles University where he obtained a Ph.D. from the Department of Physiology. His thesis topic was based on computational modeling of the cardiac electrical field and excitation-contraction coupling. Since then, Dr. Mlcek´s scientific interest has moved to experimental physiology focusing on interactions of the cardiopulmonary system. The major research models that he has been using over the past 10 years include acute respiratory distress (ARDS), extracorporeal membranous oxygenation (ECMO) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He has published over 35 papers based on his research in scientific journals. As an Assistant Professor, Dr. Mlcek lectures and runs seminars and labs in Human Physiology. In addition, he helps design and run specialized post-graduate courses aimed at ventilation therapy and trauma management in the Medical Simulation Centre.

Michal Otahal, M.D., Ph.D. is a Head of the Intensive Care Unit in the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care for Charles University and General University Hospital. In 1998, he graduated from the Third Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Prague. He then started practicing medicine in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine for the Faculty Hospital Královské Vinohrady (FNKV) and moved to his current position in 2007. Dr. Otahal is also engaged in research concerning critical respiratory failure therapy and positioning.

Jan Michalek is a Marketing Product Manager for ICU portfolio at LINET since 2020. After graduating at the Biomedical Engineering faculty at Czech Technical University has gathered more than 10 years of experience in the product management and development of medical devices. As a part of global teams has developed many successful projects mostly in the neurodiagnostic field and patient care supporting patient all over the world. He spent most of his career looking for suitable solutions in the field of patient positioning and mobilization. His focus is to address daily pain points by delivering clever and intuitive solutions supporting both, patients and the medical staff.

Jiri Plecity has been the Global Key Account Manager since 2019. From 2004 to 2010, he worked for the humanitarian organization “People in need” as the Country Representative in Ethiopia and later, as the Desk officer for Africa, responsible for the overall management and supervision of projects. In 2010, he began his career in LINET Group as the Regional Manager for Middle East and Africa and later became the Managing Director at LINET Middle East and Africa. Currently, Jiří manages projects with customers across different offices of LINET Group. His responsibilities include keeping and developing main as well as new customers through coordination, cooperation and sharing experience.

Martin Ricl is Sales Executive for TIMPEL Medical. Martin worked with LINET on the position of Global Clinical Research Manager until 2020. He has eight years of professional experience in health care with a focus on emergency and intensive care. Martin also has eighteen years of experience in product management and working as a Team leader and a Coach in various medical device companies (Medtronic, 3M, and LINET).

Koen De Doncker has more than 25 years of experience in moving and handling techniques. As an osteopath and master in physical therapy and motor rehabilitation, Koen built up his experience when he was working with physically and mentally disabled people. Due to his large interest in solving the transfer problems of his patients, he decided to study Business ergonomics and product development at the University of Antwerp Management School, to be able to develop new tools and helping aids. With this background and experience he organizes national and international trainings/workshops on this topic, preferably ‘on the job.’
